Chapter 2
Last year, despite a terrible economy, the West Bloomfield Educational Foundation raised over $240,000 for technology, arts and basic educational needs for our children through the "Save Our Schools" campaign. To all of you, who gave so generously, please know that the funds were put to good use after meetings with Superintendent Dr. JoAnn Andrees, our principals and parent representatives from every school. Each of us has an investment in our children. At the West Bloomfield Educational Foundation, we believe our children deserve the best possible education enabling them to compete on a global level in the 21st century. All of us are inundated with requests from various charities that are worthy. However, we reference the age-old expression, "Charity begins at home." Help your children and your neighbors.
Now we are asking for the same commitment of $1/day for each student, or any amount with which you are comfortable. Your donation can be made yearly by check or credit card or monthly by credit card. This year after much discussion with our membership, it was agreed our focus for the 2010-2011 academic year would be on the purchase of specific textbooks, adding technology and supporting the Arts. The goal is 100% participation and this year you may earmark your donation where you feel the need is greatest.
