General Questions
We are a non-profit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to providing financial support for innovative programs that fall outside the standard school district budget.
While PTOs support individual schools, the WBEF supports the entire district by funding large-scale innovation grants and scholarships across all grade levels.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of local parents, business owners, community leaders, and district representatives.
We are a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works in close partnership with the district to identify and fund educational needs.
Our funding is generated through annual events, corporate sponsorships, and generous donations from community members and alumni.
Giving & Sponsorships
Yes, as a 501(c)(3) organization, all donations made to the WBEF are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Most donations go into our general fund to benefit the widest range of students, but we do offer specific campaign opportunities throughout the year.
Yes, we have several sponsorship levels that provide local businesses with high-visibility recognition at our events and on our digital platforms.
Absolutely. We offer tribute giving options where we can notify the family or honoree of your generous gift in their name.
Many companies will double your impact through matching gift programs. Check with your HR department to see if your company participates.
You can set up a monthly or quarterly recurring gift through our secure online donation portal by selecting the “recurring” option at checkout if it’s displayed.
Teacher Grants & Scholarships
Any educator or staff member within the West Bloomfield School District is eligible to submit a proposal for an innovation grant.
We prioritize “innovation grants” that bring new technology, creative seating, STEM kits, or unique cultural experiences into the classroom.
Grant applications are typically reviewed in cycles. Please check our “Teacher Grants” for current dates and submission guidelines.
This is our dedicated scholarship program that provides financial assistance to graduating seniors to help cover the costs of higher education.
Recipients are chosen based on academic merit, community involvement, and the specific criteria outlined in the application.
Currently, grants must be submitted by a district staff member, though we encourage students to collaborate with teachers on innovative ideas.
Events, Raffles, & Getting Involved
Tickets can be purchased directly through our website’s “Events” page during the months leading up to the gala.
Not at all! Our events are open to the entire community, alumni, and supporters who want to enjoy a great night for a good cause.
For most of our raffles, you do not need to be present to win. We will contact the winner using the information provided on the ticket.
We are always looking for help! You can fill out the volunteer form on our website to join a specific event planning committee.
Events vary; the Kentucky Derby Gala is typically “Derby Chic” (hats encouraged), while Casino Night is cocktail or business casual.
Tickets are generally non-refundable as they are a donation to the foundation, but they can often be transferred to another guest if you cannot attend.
